My name is Krista Fabregas, mom to a busy teenage daughter and wife to a busy motorcycle-racing husband. Managing these two and our home over the years has been the perfect testing ground for all things a busy family demands — and the reason my websites, KidSmartLiving.com and SimplySmartLiving.com, came to be.
My Internet Story…
In 1999, I was a working mom with a 1-year-old and a great job developing one of the first internet systems at NASA. This project led to my own online tinkering and ultimately to my first website, KidSmartLiving.com — a family-friendly living resource for busy parents like myself.
Within a year, I left NASA to devote myself full time to KidSmartLiving. Roughly a decade later, I had two e-commerce websites, a huge warehouse stocked with over 2000 different products, and a full-time staff.
I also had lots of opportunities to share my product finds and worry-free living ideas with the world, including the Today Show and my local news stations; in magazines such as Good Housekeeping, Parenting, and Better Homes & Gardens; and online with eHow.com, Disney.com, and Celebrations.com, to name a few.
I could hardly keep up!
I finally admitted that managing it all day-to-day took a toll on the things I thought made my websites special, upcycling and decorating DIY’s, cooking up new recipes, and — of course — searching the buyer’s markets for the best stuff for busy homes and lifestyles.
So in 2014, I decided to cut back our product line and focus on what I love. This was easy since so many of my suppliers were starting to sell direct on Amazon and other big online stores. With the exception of a few special lines, I decided to let the big guys handle all that product storage and shipping. I mean, we all have our strengths!
I merged both sites into a new-and-improved SimplySmartLiving.com.
And for the rest… I added a Fabulous Faves & Finds section to feature my Faves — the products I know and love, and Finds — my newest discoveries; all with links to very the best deals I can find for you!
I hope you like the new format. I’d love to hear what you think. Hitting it out of the park? Missing the ball completely? Please leave any comments, suggestions or ideas you have — I check in daily!
